It’s been a fun-filled summer, and a trip to Maine in June was one of the best parts of it. I never got around to posting the sketches I did while we were in Camden, and, truth be told, I’m still finishing up a few of them, but here are the first few pages I managed to squeeze in during our family vacation.
While the grandkids were messing around on the beach, I did this quick sketch with a sepia Pigma Micron pen, water brush, and tiny travel watercolor set.
One afternoon, we left our 19-year old granddaughter in charge of the younger ones and made a visit to Cellar Door Winery in Lincolnville. I sketched while my mother, daughter, and son-in-law sipped and tasted a selection of wine served in cute little mini carafes.
After I got home, I put together a complementary collage on the facing page.
A vaariegated background wash of watercolor was applied to the page first, then I added the winery’s brochure, business card, and a photo from our visit.
If you’re ever in midcoast Maine, be sure to stop by Cellar Door. It’s a beautiful venue – there was even a wedding going on out in the vineyards when we were there!
Enjoy the rest of your summer! I’ll be back soon with a couple more sketches from Maine.
