Kitty Week - Sketch #7

It's the final day of "Kitty Week", and it's time you met Mica, who came to live with us a few years ago after she had some "issues" with being a well-behaved inside-cat at Sara's house. She now grudgingly coexists with Genevieve, Hoover, and Buckley and spends most of her time outdoors.

She loves to nap under the hydrangea bushes, where she observes the antics of the other critters with a look that says "Don't mess with me!"

She's shy and reclusive, except when Sara stops by. Then she gets absolutely silly - so happy to see her original mom again.

I hope you've enjoyed "Kitty Week". It's been fun sharing some of the sketches and paintings I've done of our pets. Which one was your favorite?

Would you like to have a portrait of your own pet done in watercolor? I'd love to paint one for you!  Email me for more information - you can contact me using the button here on my blog. The holidays will be here soon; wouldn't a portrait of someone's favorite pet make a thoughtful gift?

  1. I have to tell you Leslie that I absolutely love your sketching and artwork. Oh I would love to be able to draw like you!! I so admire your talent and am thankful I get to see your work!!

  2. Thanks so much for writing, Paula - you made my day! You should give drawing a try. I've found that the only way I get better is to keep plugging away at it. Every drawing I do has something I don't like in it, but the overall effect is usually okay. And it's been encouraging to see the progress I've made in the past few years, just sketching once in awhile and having fun with it. I think we all expect perfection (at least I know I do), but I'm gradually realizing that "pretty good" is okay, too.

  3. Ahh, look at dat puddy tat....sweet! I love illustrating pet's too for the life they live is fast, although they do have "nine" lives, a portrait to honor this one is a wonderful keepsake.
Hope you are having a beautiful day. I am sketching, working and baking toll-house cookies for my family - my assistant "Bentley" is by my side.
    aka faithful companion.

  4. Sounds like a perfect day at home. Aren't we the lucky ones? I love working from home - wouldn't trade it for any other job.

  5. I love this Leslie, it looks like a postcard!! I may have to have you paint a picture of Quincy!
