  • Thank you for this opportunity to be entered into this giveaway. Is the paper in this journal similar to Fabriano hot press paper?

I just want to add that you are an amazing artist! I may not comment often, but I follow your blog via email! I love you watercolors…..I love seeing what you create!

    • I haven't used Fabriano hot press, but, yes, the Zeta has a surface similar to hot press watercolor paper.

Thanks for following my blog. It's fun to do these giveaways, because I get to hear from people who don't often comment. I like knowing you're there, whether you write or not.

  • Just loved following your blog. Enjoyed your trip to Italy. These journals look amazing and the sizes are perfect for my trips to our local beach and parks and my next trip to the Key's. I love living here in Florida, I'm a 5 min. trip to the beach from my home. 10 If the bridge has to be opend for a sail boat coming down the inland waterway. If I'm not one of the lucky winners I certainly would like to purchase one of the Zeta Journals.

    • Lucky you, to live so close to the beach!

You might want to email Stillman and Birn and request a sample packet of the their paper. It's free, and would give you a chance to try out the Zeta before buying.

  • So enjoy your blog and your review of the Zeta has been wonderful. At times your response to the highly sized heavy paper reminded me of peoples experience with Yupo… only somewhat more controllable. I'd love to try out one of these sketchbooks myself. 🙂 Thanks for all your great encouragement and inspiration, Leslie!

    Reply
    • You're so right about the similarity to Yupo. Definitely not as slippery, but the same kind of delay in drying time, and the paints merging together and moving around on the slick surface.

  • Have been having fun reading your blog, especially liked your trip to Italy. Would be wonderful winning the sketchbooks, I would enjoy trying them out.

  • I didn't comment on your other posts, but I added them to the arts & craft link list that I post daily. I don't comment much because I spend so much time just looking for good links–but I should have on your review. There was so much good information, not just on the Stillman & Birn books, but on painting in general. Thank you for both the information AND the giveaway!

    • I appreciate your sharing the links to my posts, Sandra, and for your kind comments.

  • Thanks for the giveaway, and I've enjoyed reading your reviews. I learned about the Stillman & Birn line of sketchbooks from a review done by Sandra Strait, and I haven't looked back. They are great, and I would love to add one more to my stash! Beautiful work.

  • Lovely Blog, wonderful artist!! I'm rather new to "art" and I've been using a binder with heavy stock paper for my "attempts". So far, I've been having a blast. I'm slowly getting supplies to build my collection of art materials. I'm not rich so it's a slow process. But, just standing in front of paints section of my local art supply shop, and drooling, is well worth it… I'm like a kid in a candy store; such beautiful colours and mediums to play with. I've been eyeing those sketchbooks for a while now. Will be lovely if I win! And I'm a coffee-aholic so that would be a win-win, hahaah!! But again, lovely art!!!

  • You are an inspiration, although I am a newbe to art I have had such fun looking at your work. It would be nice try a different paper to work with (never heard of this one) so thanks for this chance to win.x

  • I love your work. I am just getting back to painting after many years and the concept of using the art journal for my watercolors is very exciting.

  • I've really enjoyed following your posts about your trip to Italy, and the sketches you were able to complete once you got home. I was especially intrigued by your post about the realities of sketching, that even on a art-focused trip with an art buddy who shared your trip goals, it is still a challenge to get as much sketching completed as you'd hoped and dreamed.

Stillman & Birn is such a neat company, I love how they support wonderful artists like you, sponsor these give-aways, and feature various artists work on the sketchbook labels. I do enjoy their sketchbooks! I've filled an Alpha, most of an Epsilon, and just bought my first Beta yesterday. Would love to try the Zeta too!

I love the S & B Beta hardbound book…halfway thru my first…heard about it thru Brenda Swensen. Have never tried hot press paper & this giveaway would be a great intro to the Zeta paper. I promise to be a very gracious giveaway winner. I look forward to my email every night to read your blog posts. You inspire me to sketch everyday items & scenes EVERYDAY! Thank you…

    • HI Bobbi,
I'd love to do an online class, but I don't know the first thing about it. I'm going to start researching the logistics of it, and hopefully offer one in the future.

Nothing makes me happier than to know that you have gotten some value from my blog. Thanks for being a faithful follower! And, if you don't win a free sketchbook, you can always email Stillman and Birn for one of their free sample packets, which would give you a piece of Zeta to try out.
