Spring Art Show

If you’re in the Pittsburgh, PA, area this week, I hope you’ll take a few minutes to stop by The Galleria in Mt. Lebanon to see the new spring art show sponsored by the McMurray Art League. Over ninety drawings and paintings by league members are on display until this coming Sunday.

I have three paintings in the show. The first is a recent watercolor called “My Own Sweet Time”. I took lots of photos while painting it, to illustrate the step-by-step blog post I’m working on for you. I should have it completed soon.

“My Own Sweet Time,” 9-1/2″ x 14-1/2″, watercolor, ink (Price: $350.00)

The second piece is “Pemaquid Sentinels,” painted on location at Fort Pemaquid near New Harbor, Maine.

“Pemaquid Sentinels,” 7″ x 19″, watercolor (Price: $175.00)

“Idle Hours” is my final entry. It’s a dreamy, Impressionistic scene of a dozing cat whiling away the afternoon.

“Idle Hours,” 14″ x 10″, watercolor, pencil (Sold)

Cast your vote for Viewer’s Choice while you’re at the show, and be inspired to do some summer painting of your own!

  • Hello! I just joined your blog, found it at Claire's Sketchbook. I'm delighted by your art & process & your happy spirit. I viewed your TV show, I see you love my state of Maine. And I see that we share Andrew Wyeth. And share the love of sketching.

  • Sounds like we're kindred spirits. Thanks for stopping by. I've joined your blog, as well, and am looking forward to seeing more of your sketches of New England. Don't you think our sketching styles are very similar?

  • Perhaps a bit similar, but you have developed your art way more than I have…I don't create actual paintings too often, but this summer am going to take a watercolor workshop in Rockland, so we shall see where that takes me. I would also like to delve into calligraphy to integrate it with my drawings. So glad you stopped by.

  • Just curious, but with whom will you be studying in Rockland?

  • Wish I could drop in (it's a 12-hour drive from my house in NH, I know this because I did it 2 years ago!). I can't wait to see the steps to your finished work. I'm fascinated with watercolor and have been watching for a class at the art school in my hometown. I'd love to try my hand at it. In the meantime, I've picked up a pad of watercolor paper and some inexpensive watercolors to see what kind of mess I can make. I'm not terribly artistic, but I love the process and sometimes completel surprise myself.
